Vail Village Vacation Rentals

Vail Village is the original heart of Vail: a car-free core of covered bridges, alpine-style buildings and Gore Creek running through the middle. Cars stay at the edge, in the village parking structure, and everything else — lifts, ski shops, restaurants and après — is on foot.

Getting on the Mountain

Gondola One leaves from the top of Bridge Street and takes you to Mid-Vail in heated ten-person cabins. It is the most direct way onto Vail Mountain from anywhere in town, and from Mid-Vail the Back Bowls and Blue Sky Basin are within reach. Golden Peak, with the ski school and the Riva Bahn Express, is about five minutes’ walk east.

Who It Suits

First-time visitors, couples and small families who want to park the car on arrival and forget about it. You walk to the gondola in the morning, walk to dinner and walk home. Rentals here are mostly condos rather than houses, so larger groups usually get more space for the money at Golden Peak, in Lionshead or down-valley.

Parking and Getting Around

The village parking structure charges by the day in winter and fills on busy weekends; the town’s “Free After 3” rate helps if you are only driving in for dinner. Most guests don’t need a car at all. The free Town of Vail bus links the village with Lionshead, Golden Peak, East Vail and West Vail year-round, and we arrange private transfers from Eagle County Regional Airport, about 35 minutes away.

Summer in the Village

The village stays busy after the snow melts. The Vail Farmers’ Market & Art Show takes over the streets on Sundays, the lifts run for sightseeing, hiking and mountain biking, and Ford Park — with the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens and the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater — is a pleasant walk or a short bus ride east.
