Beaver Creek is Vail’s smaller, quieter neighbor, about ten miles to the west. The mountain rises above a resort village built for skiers, with outdoor escalators up to the lifts and free chocolate chip cookies at the base every afternoon. It feels more contained than Vail, and that is exactly why many families prefer it.

Three Villages, One Mountain

Beaver Creek Village is the main base, with the Centennial Express, shops, an outdoor ice rink and the Vilar Performing Arts Center. Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead are smaller slopeside villages further west, linked by lifts, so you can ski from village to village across the mountain.

Getting There

Beaver Creek is about 20 minutes from Eagle County Regional Airport, the shortest airport transfer of any major resort in the valley. Avon sits at the bottom of the resort road, and the Riverfront Express Gondola runs from Avon up to Beaver Creek Landing, where you connect to the lifts.

Families who find Vail’s scale tiring, skiers who like well-groomed runs and shorter lift lines, and anyone flying into Eagle who would rather spend the afternoon on the snow than on the road. With an Epic Pass you can ski both Beaver Creek and Vail.
